[Order of the Court was made by The Hon'ble CHIEF JUSTICE] Heard Mr.P.Santhoshkumar, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.J.Ashok, learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents.
2. The petitioner seeks correction of religion in a Community Certificate issued by the Deputy Tahsildar.
3. According to the petitioner, the petitioner belongs to Hindu Parayar. However, it is mentioned as Christian Parayan. Even the order issued by the Judicial Magistrate directing to register the birth, records the religion as Hindu. All other documents, records the religion as Hindu.
4. In that case, the petitioner has to approach the Deputy Tahsildar with necessary application. If the petitioner files such an application, the Deputy Tahsildar shall consider the said application on its own merits expeditiously and decision shall be taken in accordance with law, preferably, within a period of three months from the date of application of the petitioner.
5. With the aforesaid directions, the Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
