ORDER

By consent of both sides, the writ petition itself is taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission itself.

2. The petitioner seeks re-issuance of passport. He has submitted an application before the jurisdictional passport officer. However, the impugned order has been passed asking the petitioner to furnish all the documents related to the pending cases against him, failing which, the application would be closed. Challenging the same, the petitioner is before this Court.

3.When the matter was taken up for hearing, the learned Government Advocate (Crl. Side), on instructions, submitted that the case pending against the petitioner has been closed by the respondent police. The said statement is recorded.

In view of the above, the impugned order of the 1st respondent stands quashed and the jurisdictional Regional Passport Officer shall process the petition-mentioned application and issue passport subject to fulfilment of the other usual formalities, if he is otherwise eligible. This writ petition is allowed on these terms. No costs. 23.09.2024 RR TO
