PRAYER: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying for issuance of a writ of Mandamus, to direct the first respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 04.09.2024 to re-issue a passport in file No.TR2076669547124 dated 26.06.2024 pending before the first respondent office within a stipulated time that may be fixed by this Court.

ORDER

Heard both sides.

2.The petitioner's passport has expired. Hence, he made an application before the jurisdictional passport officer seeking re-issuance of his passport. However, the same was not processed in view of the involvement of the petitioner in a criminal case. Apprehending that it may not be processed in view of his involvement in a criminal case, the present writ petition came to be filed.

3.When the matter was taken up for hearing, the learned Government Advocate (Crl. Side) submitted that the case registered against the petitioner has been closed as 'action dropped'. 4.Since the case registered against the petitioner has been closed as 'action dropped', there is no impediment for the authorities to process the application of the petitioner. Accordingly, the authorities are directed to complete the process of application submitted by the petitioner and pass 2/4

appropriate orders for re-issuance of passport in accordance with the Rules in force within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
