ORDER

This petition is filed to expedite the investigation in Crime No. 01 of 2020 on the file of the respondent Police.

2. When the matter came up for hearing, the learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) appearing for the respondents submitted that this is an offence under the Tamil Nadu Public Property (Prevention of Destruction and Loss) Act, 1982 and so far, 61 witnesses have been examined. Money has also been seized and the property has also been identified and the Government has also passed an order of interim attachment with reference to the said property.

3. Learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents would submit that, if further six months time is granted, investigation will be completed.

4. In view thereof, this Criminal Original Petition is disposed of with the following directions:

(i). The competent authority shall file appropriate application before the trial Court to make the attachment absolute and thereafter, for selling the property and for realizing and disbursing the amount. (ii). The competent authority shall also file further application with reference to the disbursement of cash, which is seized. (iii). The investigation shall be expedited and completed in any event not later than six months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
