This writ petition is filed for writ of Certiorarified Mandamus, to quash the impugned order passed by the 2nd respondent in their web site and further, to direct the respondents to accept the Tamil Medium Certificate issued by the Annamalai University, dated 27.11.2015, consequently provide the Tamil - Medium preferential to the petitioner in the post of Sub Inspector of Police in the year 2015 as per the 2/6

Notification, dated 08.02.2015.

2. The petitioner applied for the post of Sub Inspector of Police. He actually joined as Grade I Police Constable in the Prison Department and he is an in-service candidate. The petitioner applied for the said post by claiming priority in Tamil medium.

3. The contention of the respondents is that at the time of filing of application, the petitioner has not submitted the Tamil medium certificate. Even at the time of interview, the petitioner has not submitted the same. The interview was conducted on 14.09.2015. In the call letter, it has been specifically stated to bring the certificate to prove that the petitioner has studied UG degree in Tamil medium. In the notification for the recruitment under Clause 4, Sub-clause (A), it has been specifically stated if the candidate is not producing any certificate for any 3/6

priority, the application would be rejected. In spite of this, the petitioner did not produce the certificate. After attending the interview, the petitioner has obtained the certificate from the Annamalai University and produced the same on 27.11.2015.

4. It is an admitted fact that the petitioner was not in possession of the PSTM certificate as on the date of application and as on the date of interview. Therefore, this Court is not inclined to protect the petitioner. Hence, the writ petition is dismissed. No costs. Index : Yes / No 27.06.2023 Internet : Yes NCC : Yes / No Tmg 4/6
