ORDER

This Criminal Original Petition is filed seeking to quash the FIR in Crime No.187 of 2025 on the file of the first respondent, which was registered for the offences under Section 308(4) and 351(3) of BNS, 2023.

2. The allegation in the FIR is that on 19.06.2025, when the defacto complainant was walking nearby the Morupatti Bus stop, the petitioner waylaid the defacto complainant and snatched Rs.750/- by threatening him with a knife and thus committed the aforesaid offences.

3. Admittedly, the petitioner and the second respondent are residents of the same Village and they have now entered into a compromise and decided to give a quietus to the entire dispute. The parties have filed a joint compromise memo dated 18.08.2025 and the scanned copy of the compromise memo reads as follows:

4. The petitioner, namely, Perumal (Aadhaar No.9117 0388 8045) and the second respondent/defacto complainant, namely, Vignesh (Aadhaar No.4177 5280 9745) are present before this Court in person. They are identified by Mr.R.Sanjeevi, Special Sub Inspector of Police, Thathaiyangarpettai Police Station, Trichy District. The defacto complainant would state that they belong to the same Village and that in view of the compromise entered between them, the impugned FIR may be quashed.

Considering the fact that the petitioner is not a habitual offender and that the parties have now entered into compromise and the dispute being private in nature, this Court is of the view that no useful purpose would be served in keeping the impugned FIR pending investigation. Accordingly, the impugned FIR in Crime No.187 of 2025 dated 19.06.2025 on the file of the first respondent is quashed and the Criminal Original Petition stands allowed. 13.10.2025 NCC : Yes / No Index : Yes / No Internet : Yes/ No Lm 6/8
