PRAYER : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the first respondent i.e., the Secretary to Government, Home (Transport) Department, Chennai to pass appropriate orders on the petitioner's representation dated 28.06.2025 regarding sanction of interest for belated payment of retirement benefits from the date of superannuation as per the proposals sent by the Transport Commissioner, Chennai in his letter No.1000/P1/2020 dated 30.03.2020. This writ petition has been filed for issuance of a writ of Mandamus, directing the first respondent to pass appropriate orders on the petitioner's representation dated 28.06.2025, regarding sanction of interest for belated payment of retirement benefits from the date of superannuation as per the proposals sent by the Transport Commissioner, Chennai in his letter No. 1000/P1/2020 dated 30.03.2020.

2.Heard the learned counsel for the parties. By consent of both parties, the Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.
3.According to the learned Counsel appearing for the writ petitioner, the petitioner last served as a Record Clerk in the Office of the Regional Transport Officer, Madurai South, Madurai and attained superannuation on 30.06.2014. However, his retirement benefits were disbursed belatedly. Hence, he sent a representation on 28.06.2025 seeking interest for the belated payment. Since, there is no response from the respondents authorities, the present writ petition has been filed.
4.Learned counsel for the petitioner would further submit that the petitioner would be satisfied if a direction is issued to the first respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 28.06.2025 and pass appropriate orders thereon, within a time frame to be fixed by this Court. 3/6
5.Considering the above facts and circumstances, without going into the merits of the case, this Writ Petition is disposed of with a direction to the first respondent, to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 28.06.2025 and pass appropriate orders in accordance with law. Such exercise shall be completed as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of six (6) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. It is also made clear that this Court has not expressed any of its views with regard to the merits of the matter and that it is open to the first respondent to consider the same on its own merits.
