By asserting that the Karppaga Natchiyar Amman Kovil, Munthal, Punaiyapuram, Tenkasi, falls within the control of the HR & CE Department, the present Writ Petition has been filed after unsuccessfully seeking information pertaining to the temple under the Right to Information Act, 2005.

2. Learned Standing Counsel accepts notice for the first respondent and learned Government Advocate accepts notice for the second respondent. Learned Standing Counsel submits on instructions that the Joint Commissioner of the District Headquarters is the Public Information Officer and that the petitioner did not seek information from the Public Information Officer or lodge an appeal before the designated 2/4

appellate authority. Therefore, he submits that the present Writ Petition is not maintainable.

3. Since the petitioner has not requested information from the authority designated for such purpose pursuant to the Right to Information Act, 2005, this Writ Petition is disposed of by granting leave to the petitioner to seek relevant information from the designated Public Information Officer. No costs.
