O R D E R
This writ petition has been filed for issuance of a writ of Mandamus, directing the first respondent/Secretary to Government, Social Welfare and Women Empowerment Department, Chennai, to pass appropriate orders on the petitioner's representation dated 27.01.2025. 2.Heard the learned counsel for the parties. By consent of both parties, the Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.
3. The learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner was initially appointed as a Noon Meal Organizer on 01.04.1983 and was subsequently promoted as an Office Assistant in the Office of the Integrated Child Development Project Officer, Mudhukulathur, Ramanathapuram District on 2/6
22.01.2011. He retired from service on 31.05.2013. The grievance of the petitioner is that similarly placed individuals have been granted a special monthly pension of Rs.2,000/- as per G.O.(Perm.) No.41, Social Welfare and Nutritious Meal Programme Department, dated 29.08.2019. However, the petitioner has not been sanctioned the same, till date. Therefore, he submitted a detailed representation dated 27.01.2025, seeking the grant of special monthly pension. As no action was taken on the representation, the petitioner has filed the present writ petition before this Court.
4. Learned counsel for the petitioner would further submit that the petitioner would be satisfied if a direction is issued to the second respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 27.01.2025 and pass appropriate orders thereon, within a time frame to be fixed by this Court.
5. Considering the above facts and circumstances, without going into the merits of the case, this Writ Petition is disposed of with a direction to the second respondent, to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 27.01.2025 and pass appropriate orders in accordance with law. Such exercise 3/6
shall be completed as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of six
(6) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. It is also made clear that this Court has not expressed any of its views with regard to the merits of the matter and that it is open to the second respondent to consider the same on its own merits. No costs.
