The petitioner seeks consideration of a representation dated 23.09.2016 seeking reconveyance of the land bearing Survey No.144/3C2 of an extent of 0.49.5 acres in Veenier Vaikal Village, Mudhukulathur Taluk, Ramanathapuram District.
2. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the lands were acquired in the year 2001, but the said lands were not put to use. He further submits that compensation in respect of the acquisition was also not paid to the petitioner. Therefore, the petitioner submitted representations on 06.08.2003, 21.11.2007 and 23.09.2016. Since such representations did not elicit a proper response, the present writ petition has been filed.
3. Learned Special Government Pleader submits that the lands cannot be reconveyed and that the Government is entitled to put the lands to use for any public purpose. Subject to the said submission, she states that the representation of the petitioner for payment of compensation would be considered and disposed of within a reasonable time.
4. In view of the above submissions, W.P. (MD) No.19085 of 2016 is disposed of by directing the second respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 23.09.2016 in accordance with law and dispose of the same on merits within a period of four months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
