ORDER

This writ petition is filed for a mandamus directing the respondent to issue Patta in the petitioner's name to an extent of 0.21.0 Ares bearing Survey No.211/5 in Keeranur Village, Keeranur Taluk, Pudukkottai District.

2. The case of the petitioner is that the land in S.No.211/5 is classified as Natham land with a total extent of 0.22.0 Ares and the petitioner is in exclusive possession of an extent of 0.21.0 Ares for several decades. The petitioner has constructed a thatched cattle-shed along with a haystack. In order to assert his right over the property, he decided to get a house site patta in his name. Therefore, on 08.09.2016 he remitted a challan by paying a sum of Rs.40/- for survey and demarcation. He also submitted a representation for issuance of patta on 26.08.2016 and the same is kept pending. Therefore, the present writ petition.

3. Heard the learned counsel on either side.

4. Considering the fact that the petitioner's representation is dated 26.08.2016, a mandamus is issued to the respondent to consider the same and pass orders within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

5. With the above direction, this Writ Petition is allowed. No costs.
