PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondents 2 to 6 to depute sufficient traffic police at Government Girls Othakadai Higher Secondary School, Ulaganeri in peak hours traffic in the morning from 8.00 A.M to 9.30 A.M and in the evening from 3.30 P.M to 5.30 P.M to control the traffic for the safety of the School Children in accordance with law within the time stipulated by this Court. ORDER
[Order of the Court was made by R.SUBRAMANIAN, J.] The petitioner seeks a mandamus directing the respondents to depute sufficient traffic police at the entrance of the Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Othakadai, during peak hours to enable the children to have convenient ingress and egress to the school premises.
2. Pursuant to the notice issued, the Deputy Commissioner of police (Traffic), Madurai city, has filed a status report wherein it is stated that the Madurai Traffic Police have already been instructed to deploy men as prayed for in the writ petition between 8 A.M. and 9.30 A.M and 3.30 P.M. To 5.30 P.M. with
effect from 01.10.2024. Photographs of such deployment have also been placed before us.
3. In view of the statement made in the status report, we do not see any necessity to issue mandamus as prayed for. The writ petition is therefore, closed. There shall be no order as to costs.
