The petitioner claims that she belongs to a Scheduled caste community residing in a rented house. She has submitted a representation before the respondents 1 to 3, seeking for an allotment of a house in any of the Schemes under the Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board and filed this writ petition for a Mandamus.

2.Mrs.S.Latha, learned Standing Counsel, who takes notice for the respondents 1 & 3 seeks short accommodation to ascertain the case of the petitioner and to file a report. 2/5

3.Considering the limited prayer sought for by the petitioner, this Writ petition is disposed of with the following directions:- i. The second respondent/the District Collector, Madurai shall ascertain as to whether the petitioner belongs to Economically Weaker Section through revenue officials, if so, make necessary recommendation to the respondents 1 & 3 for allotment of a house, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. ii. The respondents 1 to 3 shall consider the case of the petitioner, if she is eligible, within a period of twelve weeks from thereon. No costs.
