O R D E R

This Writ Petition is filed seeking for a Mandamus to the respondents Police to grant permission for celebrating Vinayagar Chathurthi Festival which is scheduled to be held from 16.09.2023 to 18.09.2023 and installing Vinayagar Idols in Arulmigu Sri Vinayagar Temple situated at Sangampatti, Usilampatti Taluk, Madurai District.

The petitioner is one of the members of Vinayagar Chathurthi Festival Committee of the said village and he gave a representation on 01.09.2023 for celebrating Vinayagar Chathurthi Festival from 16.09.2023 to 18.09.2023, but the respondents Police have not attended the same. Therefore, he sought for suitable directions. 2/5

The learned Government Advocate (Criminal side) appearing for the respondents Police submits that though the petitioner is stated to have given a representation dated 01.09.2023, the date has been mentioned in the postal receipt as 09.09.2023 and the respondents Police have not received any such representation.

4. Considering the submissions made by the learned Government Advocate (Criminal side) appearing for the respondents Police, this Writ Petition is disposed of directing the petitioner to approach the respondents Police with a fresh application and on filing of such application, the respondents Police are directed to consider the same and provide permission by imposing usual condition. There shall be no order as to costs.
