ORDER

Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner, the learned Central Government Standing Counsel appearing for the first respondent and the learned Government Advocate (crl.side) appearing for the second respondent. By consent, this writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.

2. The petitioner seeks a direction to the first respondent to reissue his passport by correcting the date of birth as 24.05.1989 instead of 24.05.1987, by considering his application dated 12.07.2025, within a time frame to be stipulated by this Court.

3. The petitioner was the holder of Passport No.G0833784 dated 29.12.2006, issued for a period of ten years, valid from 29.12.2006 to 28.12.2016. After the expiry of the said passport, the petitioner made at least two attempts to obtain a fresh passport on the strength of the earlier passport.

4. A show cause notice dated 15.09.2017 was issued calling upon the petitioner to furnish the original birth certificate. However, as the petitioner failed to respond, the passport application filed in 2/5

2017 was closed. Subsequently, the petitioner filed another application in 2018. In connection with the said application, another show cause notice dated 10.01.2019 was issued, wherein the petitioner was asked to explain the discrepancy in the name of the petitioner's father, which appeared as "Jeyaraman" in the application and "Jeyaram" in the birth certificate. The petitioner again failed to respond, and accordingly, the 2018 application was closed. The petitioner has now filed a fresh application on 12.07.2025.

5. The petitioner submits that he is willing to explain the position before the respondent.

6. Having already issued a passport to the petitioner earlier, the first respondent is directed to consider the petitioner's fresh application dated 12.07.2025 after affording an opportunity to the petitioner to explain the discrepancies. The said exercise shall be completed within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

7. With the above direction, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
