The relief sought for in the present Writ Petition is to direct the respondents to promote the petitioner to the post of Inspector of Police (Technical) based on the representation dated 15.12.2021 submitted by her.

2. According to the petitioner, she has been appointed as Sub-Inspector of Police (Technical) in the respondent Department on 14.09.2004 by way of direct recruitment and deputed to discharge her duty in the Police Telecommunication Branch, Madurai District. As of now, the petitioner is working in the Police Telecommunication Branch of Theni District. The petitioner was issued with the order of punishment of postponement of increment for one year without cumulative effect, on 07.09.2017, because of taking the medical leave. Therefore, she lost her promotion to the post of Inspector of Police (Technical) provided by the second respondent vide proceedings dated 16.10.2020, even though her name has been placed in serial No.163 of the seniority panel list. W.P (MD) No. 22776 of 2021 representation to the respondents on 15.12.2021 in this regard. Since there is no positive action, she has filed the present Writ Petition.

3. When the matter is taken up for hearing today, the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that it would suffice if the representation of the petitioner dated 15.12.2021 is directed to be disposed of, within a stipulated time limit.

4. In view of the limited scope of the relief sought for, this Court, without expressing anything on the merits of the case, directs the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 15.12.2021 and pass appropriate orders, on its own merits and in accordance with law, after affording due opportunity of hearing to the petitioner, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

5. With the above directions, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
