[Order of the Court was made by S.S.SUNDAR, J.] This Writ Petition has been filed for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to restrict the procession organized in following Vinayagar Chathurthi Festival from three days to a one day celebration and to ensure all the adequate safety elements are in position for a serene conduct of the event.
2. Heard Mr.J.Kalyanji, learned counsel for the petitioner, Mr.P.Thilak Kumar, learned Government Pleader appearing for the respondents 1, 3 and 5 and Mr.A.Thiruvadi Kumar, learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents 2, 4 and 6.
3. It is represented by the learned Government Pleader appearing for the respondents 1, 3 and 5 and the learned Additional Public Prosecutor
appearing for the respondents 2, 4 and 6 that the respondents have already fixed three days viz., 20.09.2023 to 22.09.2023 for allowing the procession and immersing the idol.
4. Having regard to the criminal cases pending and the fact that the number of idols has been increased to 276, this Court is unable to consider the prayer of the petitioner. Therefore, this Writ Petition is closed. However, the respondents are directed to ensure the law and order and the procession and immersion is conducted as per the procedure and as has been planned by the Police Department without causing any inconvenience to the public. The petitioner is also directed to get guidance from the Police Department, so that he will not face any problem in getting necessary protection. No costs.
