PRAYER: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a writ of Mandamus, directing the first respondent i.e., the Secretary to Government, Highways and Minor Ports Department, Chennai to dispose of the petitioner's appeal dated 05.08.2024, within a specified time frame that may be fixed by this Court.

ORDER

The instant writ petition has been filed by a retired Assistant Director(Highways), Regional Laboratory, Thanjavur, seeking a mandamus for expeditious disposal of his appeal, pending before the first respondent herein. 2.The second respondent in the writ petition has passed an order on 15.09.2023, rejecting the request of the petitioner for additional increments. Challenging the same, the petitioner has filed an appeal before the first respondent herein on 05.08.2024. Since the appeal has not been disposed of, the present writ petition has been filed.

3.Considering the above said facts, the first respondent herein is directed to dispose of appeal on merits and in accordance with law after affording due opportunity to the petitioner within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

4.With the above said observations, this writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.
