The petitioner has filed this writ petition seeking a direction to the first and second respondents to cancel the house receipt bearing No.221, consequently, to the change of the petitioner's name and further direct the first respondent to take necessary action as against the third respondent based on the petitioner's legal notice dated 24.06.2024.

2.Heard the learned counsel appearing on either side and perused the materials placed on record.

3.According to the learned counsel for the petitioner, the father of the petitioner is the owner of the subject property and he settled the said property in his favour on 09.10.2012. From the date of settlement, he is in possession and enjoyment of the same and the house tax receipts are also in the name of the petitioner. However, in the year 2020 by mistake, the house tax receipt has been issued in favour of one Ganeshan, who is no way connected with the subject property. To change the same, the petitioner has given a representation and thereafter, issued a legal notice. However, the same have not been considered. Hence, this writ petition.

4.Since the limited relief is sought in this writ petition, this Court without going into the merits of the case, directs the first and second respondents to consider the case of the petitioner on its own merits and pass appropriate orders in accordance with law, after giving an opportunity to the third party, in whose name the house tax receipt now stands, within a period of 12 weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
