Respondents Prayer: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying for issuance of Writ of Certiorarified Mandamus, to call for the records pertaining to the impugned order passed by the second respondent in TGMTLK/1427/2023-B2 dated 04.10.2023 and quash the same and consequently direct the second respondent to issue free house site patta to the petitioner based on the representation dated 31.08.2023 within a stipulated time as fixed by this Court. ORDER

Challenging an order passed by the second respondent rejecting his request for grant of free house site patta, the petitioner is before this Court.

2. Heard the learned counsel on either side.

3. The impugned order clearly sets out that the petitioner has a house in his name and his father Velusamy has about 3 Acres of Punja lands in Kalingapatti Village and 3 Acres of Punja lands in A.Karisalkulam Village. Therefore, the request for free house site patta has been denied.

4. The scheme of providing free house site patta is to provide landless poor a roof over their heads. The scheme is intended to alleviate

the hardship of the landless poor by providing them with a free house site patta, so that they could have a roof of their own above their heads. The petitioner does not come under the category of "landless poor" and therefore, the rejection is very much in order and I see no reason to interfere with the impugned order. Consequently, this Writ Petition is dismissed. No costs.
