This Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking for a mandamus to the respondent Police to grant permission and also protection for conducting Vinayagar Chathurthi procession, including the procession for immersion of Vinayagar idol at Palaiyur Kanmai on 19.09.2023, and other festival events scheduled to be held between 18.09.2023 and 21.09.2023 in Palaiyur Village, Sivagangai District as part of Vinayagar Chathurthi festival, basing on the representation of the petitioner, dated 28.08.2023.
2. When the matter was taken up for hearing, learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) reported that the respondent Police has already granted permission, permitting the petitioner to install the idol and take out the procession as was done in the last year.

3. At this stage, learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner would also put the lights and sound system.
4. In view of the above, the Writ Petition is disposed of, directing the respondent Police to grant permission as sought for and to consider the request of the petitioner that he would illuminate the place with lights and to put the sound system in a specified time.
