PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 08.09.2023 and grant permission to conduct Kabadi Tournament on 17.09.2023 and 18.09.2023 (under age of 16 years) at Keezhakuyilkudi Village, Madurai District without causing any disturbance to public order.

ORDER

This Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, seeking for a direction to the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 08.09.2023 and grant permission to conduct Kabadi Tournament on 17.09.2023 and 18.09.2023 (under age of 16 years) at Keezhakuyilkudi Village, Madurai District without causing any disturbance to public order.

2.It is submitted by learned counsel for the petitioner that the petitioner has made a representation to the respondent Police on 08.09.2023 seeking permission for conducting kabadi competition and the same is still pending for consideration. Since the tournament is scheduled to be held on 17.09.2023 and 18.09.2023, the petitioner sought for suitable directions to the respondent Police.

3.The learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) for the respondents submitted that the Police are prepared to provide necessary protection, provided, the organizers are following the conditions issued by the police.

4.Considering the submissions made by the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side), this Writ Petition is disposed of, directing the petitioner to approach the respondent Police afresh and file an application by giving all the details in respect of the hygiene, play grounds, accommodation to the players, toilets, medical facilities like ambulance, food, refreshment etc and on being satisfied only, the respondent Police are directed to consider the same and pass appropriate orders by keeping in view of the law and order situation prevailing in that area. 15.09.2023 NCC : Yes / No Index : Yes / No Internet : Yes / No Yuva Note: Issue Order copy on 15.09.2023.
