PRAYER: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to pay interest at the rate of 6% per annum, for the period of delay from 31.05.2018 to 21.09.2019 in paying the amounts paid towards the terminal benefits within a time frame fixed by this Court.

ORDER

The instant writ petition has been filed by the wife of the deceased employee of the respondent transport corporation, seeking payment of interest for the belated disbursement of the terminal benefits. 2.According to the learned Counsel appearing for the writ petitioner, the petitioner has retired from service on 31.05.2018 and the terminal benefits were released only on 21.09.2019. Seeking payment of interest for the belated disbursement, the petitioner has sent a representation on 06.02.2024. Since there is no response, the present writ petition has been filed. 3.Considering the above said facts, the respondents herein are directed to pay 6% interest from the due date till the date of disbursement within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 4.With the above said observations, this writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.
