Respondents PRAYER : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to settle interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of petitioner's terminal benefits including Provident Fund, Gratuity and Leave Salary from the date of his retirement i.e., from 31.12.2020 to 16.12.2022, the date on which the said benefits were settled to him.

ORDER

The present writ petition has been filed by a Special Grade Driver who retired from the respondent Transport Corporation on 31.12.2020.

2. According to the writ petitioner, his terminal benefits were released belatedly only on 16.12.2022. Hence, he has sent a representation on 17.05.2023 seeking interest for the belated payment.

3. Considering the above said facts, there shall be a direction to the 2nd respondent to pay 6% interest for the belated payment of the terminal benefits within a period of twelve (12) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

4. With the above said observations, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
