ORDER

The petitioner was issued with a passport in the year 2008, which expired in the year 2018. Therefore, he has applied for re-issuance of a passport before the first respondent and after the enquiry, he was issued with a new passport. While so, the first respondent has issued a show cause notice dated 09.02.2018 to the petitioner to explain as to why action should not be taken to impound his passport. Aggrieved over the same, the petitioner has filed this writ petition.

2. Today, when the matter is taken up for hearing, the learned counsel appearing on either side submits that a criminal case which was pending against the petitioner was closed under Section 468 Cr.P.C. by the learned Judicial Magistrate No.II, Sattur, on 10.08.2018. 2/4

In view of the subsequent development that a criminal case pending against the petitioner was closed by the learned Judicial Magistrate No.II, Sattur, on 10.08.2018, this writ petition is disposed of with liberty to the petitioner to approach the first respondent for a new passport, within a period of three weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. On receipt of any such application from the petitioner, the first respondent shall consider the same and pass necessary orders within a period of eight weeks from thereon. No costs.
