ORDER

The present Writ Petition has been filed by the wife of the deceased employee of the respondent Transport Corporation, who died in harness, seeking a Mandamus for payment of interest for the belated disbursement of terminal benefits.

2. According to the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner, though the husband of the petitioner, while in service, had passed away on 14.12.2020, his terminal benefits were released only on 31.07.2021. Seeking interest for belated disbursement of terminal benefits, the petitioner has sent a representation to the respondents on 14.09.2024. Since there is no response, the present writ petition has been filed.

3. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondents. 2/4

Considering the above said facts, the respondents herein are directed to pay the interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated disbursement of terminal benefits from the due date till the date of realization, within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

5. With the above said observations, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
