Heard the learned counsel on either side.

2. The petitioner is a siddha doctor. In her passport, her date of birth has been mentioned as 23.11.1969. Her actual date of birth is 23.05.1969. The petitioner has enclosed the birth certificate in support of the said contention.

3. The petitioner wants to go abroad for career purpose. Since there is a discrepancy between the date of birth mentioned in the birth certificate and the one mentioned in the passport, the petitioner is facing difficulty in getting visa. It is for this reason the petitioner seeks correction of her date of birth.

4. I find the petitioner's request to be reasonable. Ofcourse, the learned standing counsel states that the petitioner had not approached the respondent authority in time. Though the requirements set out in the guidelines governing correction to the date of birth have not been fulfilled in this case, in the interest of justice, I direct the respondent to correct the petitioner's date of birth in her passport as 23.05.1969 instead of 23.11.1969.

5. The writ petition is allowed. No costs.
