Respondents PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents 1 to 5 to issue patta to the Petitioner's school for the lands occupied by the school in respect of the land about an extent of 9 cents comprised in S.NO.670/1 at Ambathurai Village, Authoor Taluk, Dindigul District on the basis of the Petitioner's detailed representation to the first respondent, dated 30.04.2025. By asserting that the Petitioner is entitled to issuance of patta for the land admeasuring 9 cents, on which the school building has been constructed, the present Writ Petition has been filed. 2.Learned counsel for the Petitioner submits that the Petitioner has been in occupation of the abovementioned 9 cents of land from the year 1959 and is running a school thereon. He further submits that the respondents have erroneously classified the entire extent as 'Natham Poramboke Theru' and are, therefore, 2/5

refusing to consider the Petitioner's request. 3.Learned Additional Government Pleader accepts notice on behalf of respondents 1 to 4. He submits that the classification of S.No.670/1 is 'Natham Poramboke Theru'. He further submits that the District Collector is the authority to consider the request for reclassification.

4.In these circumstances, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the matter, the first respondent is directed to consider the Petitioner's request for reclassification and issuance of patta by considering his representation dated 30.04.2025 and disaposing of the same by a speaking order within a period of 12 weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, after providing reasonable opportunity to the Petitioner and any other person interested in the relevant property.

5.With the above directions, the Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
