ORDER
The petitioner has prayed for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent to correct his father's name as 'K.Shanmuga Velu' instead of 'K.Shanmugha Velu' in his birth certificate, issued by the respondent on 02.12.2020, based on his representation dated 10.06.2022. 1/4
2. Heard Mr.T.Navaneethakrishnan, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.R.Baskaran, learned Standing Counsel, who takes notice for the respondent. By consent of both sides, the Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.
3. The case of the petitioner is that he was born on 25.07.1980. At the time of the petitioner's birth, his father had not registered the same before the competent authority. Thereafter, his father applied a birth certificate on 25.07.1990 before the respondent herein and a birth certificate has also been issued on 02.12.2020. At the time of issuance of the birth certificate, the petitioner's father had not noticed that his name was wrongly mentioned as ''K.Shanmugha Velu'' instead of ''K.Shanmuga Velu'' in the birth certificate of the petitioner. Thereafter, on verification, the petitioner's higher authority found that there is an error regarding his father's name in the birth certificate of the petitioner.
4. The petitioner submitted that in the other documents namely, passport and death certificate of his father etc., his father's name has been correctly mentioned as 'K.Shanmuga Velu'. Hence, the petitioner sent a representation dated 10.06.2022 to the respondent through Online to correct his father's name in the birth certificate. But, the respondent did not take any effective steps on his representation. Hence, the petitioner has approached this Court by way of filing the present Writ Petition for the relief stated supra. 2/4
5. The learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondent submitted that the petitioner's representation, dated 10.06.2022, to correct his father's name as 'K.Shanmuga Velu' in the birth certificate issued on 02.12.2020, would be considered within a time frame.
6. Recording the above said submission made by the learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondent, this Court directs the respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner, dated 10.06.2022 and correct his father's name as 'K.Shanmuga Velu' instead of 'K.Shanmugha Velu' in the birth certificate issued on 02.12.2020, within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
7. This Writ Petition stands disposed of with the above direction. No costs.
