O R D E R

This Writ Petition is filed seeking a Mandamus as against the respondents to grant compensation of Rs.3,00,000/- (Rupees Three 2/6

Lakhs only) to the petitioner as per the Tamilnadu Victim Compensation Scheme, 2013 for the loss of his son's life by name Vasudevan in accordance with law within the time stipulated by this Court.

2. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner's son viz., Vasudevan was brutally murdered by the accused persons. A case has been registered in Crime No.101 of 2023 against the accused persons. After investigation, a charge sheet has been filed and the same was taken on file in P.R.C.No.27 of 2023 before the learned Judicial Magistrate, Melur. He further submitted that as per the Tamil Nadu Victim Compensation Scheme, 2013, the petitioner is entitled to get compensation. Hence, the petitioner made a representation on 28.08.2023, seeking to provide compensation of Rs.3,00,000/- for the loss of his son's life. However, till date no orders have been passed on the said representation by the respondents. Hence, the petitioner has approached this Court.

3. The learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondents 1 to 5 would submit that the representation of the petitioner dated 28.08.2023 would be considered in accordance with law. 3/6

4. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, this Court, without going into the merits of the claim, directs the 4th respondent to consider and pass orders on the representation of the petitioner dated 28.08.2023 on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of eight (8) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

5. With the above direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
