Heard both sides.

2. The petitioner applied to the respondent / local body for being provided with water connection. The stand of the respondents is that the petitioner's house is located at a considerable distance and that it would cost more than a lakh of rupees to provide water connection.

3. Since the issue has financial implication, I will not be in a position to issue any positive direction in favour of the petitioner. The respondents are hopeful that Jal Jeevan mission will be implemented shortly and once water lines are put up, the petitioner will be able to get the water connection. The petitioner states that once the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission will be implemented, he would avail the facilities provided thereunder and he may also be permitted to take water connection by bearing the cost.

4. The only objection raised by the local body is that they are not in a position to bear the cost. Now that the petitioner is willing to bear the cost, Respondents 1 and 2 are directed to provide water connection to the petitioner within a period of four weeks, if the petitioner remits the cost 2/4
