ORDER
The petitioner, who was working as the Secretary of Sellur Panchayat, Mudhukulathur Panchayat Union, has pursued higher studies without obtaining necessary permission from the Department. That apart, he has also served as a Guest Lecturer in the evening college and received salary, other than the salary of Panchayat Secretary. Since the petitioner has obtained double salary in between July, 2005 and April, 2007, he was issued with a charge memo and was imposed with a punishment of recovery of double salary paid to him during the 14 months period. As against the same, the petitioner has filed this writ petition. 2/5
2.It appears that this Court admitted the writ petition on 20.11.2019 and also granted an order of interim stay. Thereafter, the writ petition is listed before this Court for final hearing during November, 2024. 3.Learned Counsel for the petitioner submitted that he is not having any instructions. He has also filed a memo to that effect. 4.The memo filed by the petitioner's Counsel is recorded. 5.Learned Additional Government Pleader, on instructions, submitted that even after the interim order passed by this Court, the petitioner has not reported for duty. By producing a copy of the Deputy Block Development Officer, Muthukulathur, dated 15.08.2023, he submitted that the whereabouts of the petitioner is not known. 6.Considering the conduct of the petitioner in not reporting for duty even after the interim protection granted by this Court, coupled with the 3/5
submissions made by the learned Counsel on either side, this Court is not inclined to keep this writ petition pending, any further, without progress. Accordingly, this writ petition is closed. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petitions are closed. Index :
