Respondents PRAYER: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus to direct the respondents to settle interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of petitioner's terminal benefits including Provident Fund, Gratuity and Leave Salary amount from the date of the petitioner's retirement i.e. from 31.05.2019 to 22.01.2021, the date on which the said benefits were settled to him.

The instant Writ Petition has been filed by a retired Special Grade Conductor of the respondents/Transport Corporation seeking interest for the belated disbursement of the terminal benefits.

2. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submits that the petitioner has attained superannuation on 31.05.2019 and the terminal benefits were released on only 27.01.2021. Seeking interest, the petitioner has sent a representation on 26.08.2024. Since there is no response, the petitioner has filed the present Writ Petition.

3. Considering the above said facts, the respondents are directed to pay the interest at 6% p.a. from the due date till the date of realisation within a period of twelve (12) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 2/4

4. This Writ Petition stands disposed of, with above directions. No costs.
