The petitioner / Sole Accused, who apprehends arrest at the hands of the respondent Police for the offence under Sections 417, 420 and 498(A) of IPC and Section 4 of Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act, 2002 in Crime No.26 of 2024, on the file of the respondent Police, seeks anticipatory bail.

2. The defacto complainant, who is the wife, gave a complaint against the petitioner before the respondent Police. The grievance of the defacto complainant is that there was a demand for dowry in this case and the petitioner had concealed his first marriage and had married the defacto complainant.

3. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner, the learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) appearing for the first respondent Police and the learned counsel appearing for the intervener.

4. Taking into consideration the facts and circumstances of the case, there shall be a direction to the respondent Police to follow the procedure under Section 35 of the BNSS Act, 2023 and complete the investigation as expeditiously as possible.
