By consent of both sides, the writ petition itself is taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission itself.
2. The writ petition has been filed for a mandamus to direct the 1st respondent to issue passport to the petitioner on the basis of his passport application taken on file as File No. MD1066774960324, within the time stipulated by this Court.
3. The petitioner seeks issuance of passport. He has submitted an application before the jurisdictional passport officer. Apprehending that it may not be processed in view of his involvement in a criminal case, the present writ petition came to be filed.
4.When the matter was taken up for hearing, the learned Government Advocate (Crl. Side) submitted that for the criminal case registered against the petitioner in Crime No.138/2017, action has been dropped as early as on 01.08.2018. The said statement is recorded. 2/4
5. Accordingly, the writ petition is closed and it is for the 1st respondent to consider the case of the petitioner immediately. No costs. 23.10.2024 RR TO
