PRAYER : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus to direct the respondents to collect the interest for the belated recovery of penalty of Rs.12,93,895/- (Rupees Twelve Lakhs Ninety Three Thousand Eight Hundred and Ninety Five Only) illegal quarrying in "Kothamuthu Lake" in S.F.No.128 of Solagampatty Village, Gandharvakottai Taluk and Pudukkottai District at once. ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by S.M.SUBRAMANIAM, J.) The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the penalty levied under the Mines and Minerals Rules has been recovered. However, the interest portion has not been recovered.

2.The learned Government Pleader appearing on behalf of the respondents submitted that the penalty was paid by the violator only in the year 2018.

3.In view of the above, the respondents are directed to verify the same and if any Government dues, including interest, are pending, the same shall be settled. Appropriate action shall be initiated to recover the outstanding amount. 4.Accordingly, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
