Respondents PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of certiorarified Mandamus calling for the records pertaining to the impugned order passed by the second respondent in Ni.Mu.4349/2024A1 dated 30.1.2025 and quash the same and further direct the respondents 2 and 3 to restore the patta in the Petitioner's name with respect to the properties in S.No.496/21, Vadakadu Village, Alangudi Taluk and Pudukottai.

O R D E R

The appellate order of the Revenue Divisional officer dated 31.1.2025 is challenged in this Writ Petition. 2.Under the Patta Passbook Act, revision may be filed before the jurisdictional District Revenue Officer against the order of Revenue Divisional officer.

3.Learned Additional Government Pleader accepts notice on behalf of respondents 1 to 3.

4.The impugned order is dated 31.1.2025. Regular limitation period of 90 days for filing a revision expired. The statute, however, enables the filing of a revision after expiry of such period subject to showing sufficient cause.

5.Learned counsel for the Petitioner contends that the impugned order merely reproduced the Tahsildar's findings and does not disclose any application of mind. The Petitioner may canvass this aspect also before the jurisdictional District Revenue Officer. 2/4

6.In these circumstances, this Writ Petition is disposed of by granting leave to the Petitioner to file a revision before the District Revenue Officer. If such revision is filed within 15 days from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, such revision shall be received and disposed of on merits without going into the question of limitation. 5.With the above directions, the Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
