Respondents PRAYER: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents 1 and 2 to consider the petitioner's representation dated 04.11.2019 for disbursing the amount lying in Fixed Deposit with the 2nd respondent in L.No.28/1 dated 23.10.1997. ORDER

This writ petition is filed seeking a direction to the respondents to disburse the amount lying in Fixed Deposit with the 2nd respondent in L.No.28/1 dated 23.10.1997, based on the petitioner's representation dated 04.11.2019. 2.The petitioner has deposited a sum of Rs.6,000/- on 23.10.1997 with the second respondent. At that time, it was informed that after maturity period i.e., 246 months, the petitioner will be paid Rs.1,00,750/-. Even though the said period has elapsed and though he made a representation to the respondents for disbursement of money, there is no action on the side of the respondents. Therefore, the petitioner has approached this Court with the aforementioned relief.

3.Whenever a representation is made, the authorities concerned shall not keep it in cold storage and they have to take a decision either to accept it or reject it. In the present case, even though the amount deposited by the petitioner has got matured as early as on 23.04.2018, the second respondent has not disbursed the money till date.

W.P(MD)No.25392 of 2019 4.Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, a direction is given to the respondents 1 and 2 to consider the petitioner's representation dated 23.10.1997 and pass orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 5.The writ petition is disposed of with the above direction. No costs.
