Prayer : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents herein to pay along with interest at the rate of 18% per annum for the belated payment of retirement benefits including Provident Fund, Earned Leave Encashment and Commutation.

ORDER

The present writ petition has been filed by a retired Driver of the respondent Transport Corporation seeking a Mandamus seeking interest for belated payment of retirement benefits including Provident Fund, Earned Leave Encashment and Commutation within the time limit fixed by this Court.

2. According to the learned Counsel appearing for the writ petitioner, the petitioner attained superannuation on 31.10.2022. However, the benefits were released only on 29.05.2023 with a delay of 241 days. 2/5

3. Considering the above said facts, the respondents are directed to pay interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of the retirement benefits, within a period of twelve (12) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

4. With the above said observation, this writ petition stands disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
