Prayer: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondents to remove the encroachment made by the villagers and to ensure proper supply of canal water through the "Supply Canal" of "Aranayur Tank" situated in S.No.42, Aranaiyur Village, Ilayankudi Taluk, Sivagangai District and further direct the respondents to ensure proper supply of water from the said tank to the tail-end users. Heard both sides.

2. The prayer is for clearing the encroachments in the supply channel to Aranayur Kanmoi. The photographs produced before us clearly indicate that there are encroachments. It is the duty of the respondents herein to ensure that the encroachments are cleared and free flow of water through the channel is maintained for all times to come. Immediate steps shall be taken. 2/4

3. The writ petition is allowed. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
