ORDER
This writ petition is filed for the following relief: "to call for records pertaining to the impugned order passed by the 3rd respondent vide proceedings in Ka.No.U.Mi.Po/East/Watrap/Ko.Pu.Manu/A.No.147 dated 04.08.2025 and quash the same as illegal and consequently direct the respondents No.1 and 5 to give new electricity connection to the petitioner's agricultural land property situated in Survey No.235/4, Mayakannan 2nd Street, Maharajapuram, Watrap Taluk, Virudhunagar District based on the petitioner's application dated 02.06.2025 within a stipulated time that may be fixed by this Court."
2. A sketch has been produced by the learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondents 1 to 3 where it is proposed to draw electricity line from the existing pole erected on the road laid under the Anna Marumalarchi Thittam at a cost of Rs.6,95,000/- to the petitioner's property. He would further submit that the electricity line is being laid as per the provisions 29(5) of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Distribution Code and the same is extracted hereunder:
"29.....
(5) The consumer shall provide free of cost to the Licensee adequate land/space in his/her premises, as may be considered necessary by the Engineer and afford all reasonable facilities for bringing in not only cables or overhead lines from the Licenses's system for servicing the consumer but also cables for overhead lines connecting other consumers. The land/space should be at a location near the entrance to the premises and should be easily accessible to Licensee's officials for inspection."
3. It is needless to state that adequate police protection shall be given by the jurisdictional police at the time of drawing the line.
4. Recording the above, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
