PRAYER : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to re-issue the Passport No. S6984227, issued on 22.11.2018, valid up to 21.11.2028 by considering the petitioner's application dated 24.09.2024 within the time stipulated by this Court.

ORDER

By consent of both parties, this Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission itself.

2. The prayer in the Writ Petition reads as follows:- "To issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to re-issue the Passport No. S6984227, issued on 22.11.2018, valid up to 21.11.2028 by considering the petitioner's application dated 24.09.2024 within the time stipulated by this Court."

3. Heard the learned counsel on both sides and carefully perused the entire materials available on record.

4. When the matter is taken up for hearing, the learned Government Advocate appearing for the third respondent submitted that no case has been registered against the petitioner.

5. The petitioner made an application on 24.09.2024 seeking for reissuance of passport. Recording the submission made by the learned Government Advocate appearing for the third respondent, the first respondent is hereby directed to consider the application of the petitioner to re-issue his passport, if he is eligible for the same. The first respondent shall comply with the said direction on merits and in accordance with law within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6. With the above directions, this Writ Petition stands allowed. There shall be no order as to costs.
