The present Writ Petition has been filed by a Special Grade Attender L5 of the respondent Corporation, who retired from service under Voluntary Retirement Scheme on 30.06.2022. The service benefits were released on 30.05.2023. Hence, he has sent a representation to the respondents on 12.06.2023 seeking interest at the rate of 18% per annum for the belated payment of retirement benefits.

2. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondents.

3. Considering the above said facts, the second respondent herein is directed to pay interest for the belated disbursement of the retirement benefits at the rate of 6% p.a., from 01.07.2022 till 30.05.2023 within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 2/4
