The present Writ Petition has been filed by the Special Grade Attender L5 of the first respondent Corporation, who retired from service under Voluntary Retirement Scheme on 30.04.2020. The service benefits were released on 02.06.2021. Hence, he has sent a representation to the respondents on 08.09.2023 seeking interest at the rate of 18% per annum for the belated payment of retirement benefits.

2. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner, the learned counsel appearing for the first respondent and the learned Standing Counsel appearing for the second respondent.

3. Considering the above said facts, the second respondent is directed to pay interest for the belated disbursement of the retirement benefits at the 2/4

rate of 6% p.a., from 01.05.2020 till 02.06.2021 within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
