PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to settle interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of terminal benefits of the petitioner's husband Late S.Shanmugavel including Provident Fund, Gratuity and Leave Salary from the date of his death to till the date on which the said benefits were settled to her.

O R D E R

The present Writ Petition has been filed by the wife of a Selection Grade Driver, who had passed away on 01.07.2020. His terminal benefits were released by the Department on 02.06.2021. The wife of the deceased has sent a representation to the respondents on 03.07.2023 seeking interest for the belated disbursement of the terminal benefits.

2. Mr.K.Ramaiah, learned Standing Counsel takes notice for the respondents.

3. Considering the above said facts, the second respondent is directed to pay interest for the belated disbursement of the terminal benefits at the rate of 6% p.a., from the date of death of the petitioner's husband till 02.06.2021 within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
