Respondents PRAYER : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to settle interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of petitioner's husband Late Palsamy's terminal benefits which were disbursed to the petitioner and to her minor daughter by way of separate cheques, dated 13.03.2023, including Provident Fund, Gratuity and Leave Salary, by computing interest from the date of death of petitioner's husband to till the date on which the said benefits were settled.

ORDER

The present writ petition has been filed by the wife of the deceased Special Grade Driver of the respondent Corporation seeking interest for the belated settlement of terminal benefits.

2. According to the petitioner, the Special Grade Driver had passed away on 19.09.2021 and the terminal benefits were released only on 13.03.2023. The petitioner has sent a representation on 15.06.2023 seeking interest for the belated payment. However, the same has not been considered.

3. Considering the above said facts, the respondent Transport Corporation is directed to pay interest at the rate of 6% from 01.10.2021 onwards till the date of realization. The said amount shall be disbursed within a period of eight (8) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

4. With the above said observations, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
