The petitioner seeks direction for grant of assignment on a cost basis in respect of a parcel of land described in the petition.
2. The learned Senior Counsel for the petitioner submits that the property has been wrongly classified as 'Sarkar Poramboke Salai' and that the petitioner has been residing in the house for more than 20 years. He further submits that the first and second respondents are empowered to reclassify the land and grant the assignment on a cost basis.
3. The learned Special Government Pleader accepts notice on behalf of the respondents 1 to 4. He submits that the request for reclassification may be considered by the first and second respondents 2/5
and that the recommendation has been made by the Revenue Divisional Officer and the District Collector in this regard. He seeks sufficient time to dispose of the petitioner's request.
4. By taking note of the above submissions, this Writ Petition is disposed of by directing the first and second respondents to consider and dispose of the petitioner's request within a period of six months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, after providing a reasonable opportunity to the petitioner, fifth respondent and any other person interested in the relevant property.
