ORDER

Heard Mr.S.A.A.Ajmalkhan, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.M.Rajarajan, learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents.

2.This writ petition has been filed seeking for a direction to the respondent to furnish a certificate of destitute widow to the petitioner within a time frame fixed by this Court. 1/3

3.In the affidavit filed in support of the petition, it has been stated that while the petitioner's husband was working in Pune, he died on 21.10.2015 due to accident. After the death of her husband, the petitioner is running her family in a difficult situation. While so, the petitioner has received a death certificate of her husband on 17.11.2015. The fourth respondent has also issued the legal heirship certificate on 29.02.2016, stating that the petitioner is a widow. Thereafter, she wants to receive the certificate of Destitute Widow from the Government. If the said certificate is furnished, it will very useful for her to claim the benefits from the Government as a poor and destitute person. Therefore, she sent several representations to the Revenue Divisional Officer, Madurai, but no action has been taken.

Subsequently, she sent a representation on 25.07.2018 to the third respondent with all the necessary documents and finally, on 04.03.2019, she sent another representation to the District Collector/first respondent herein. Since no action has been taken, the petitioner is before this Court.

4.The learned Government Advocate states that the respondent will consider the claim of the petitioner in accordance with law and dispose of the same within the time stipulated by this Court.

5. In such a view of the matter, without going into the merits of the petitioner's claim, the respondents are directed to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 25.07.2018, on merits and in accordance with law, as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6.With the above direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.

7.The Registry is directed to list the matter on 21.01.2020 'for reporting compliance'.
