The instant writ petition has been filed by the wife of the deceased employee of the 2nd respondent office, seeking a mandamus to sanction family pension and other consequential benefits on account of the death of Mr.Gandhiraj.
2. According to the learned Counsel appearing for the writ petitioner, the deceased employee namely Mr.Gandhiraj was working as a driver in the Police Department in Thoothukudi District and he had retired from service on 31.07.1998. The deceased employee had married the petitioner's sister and thereafter divorced her by way of Customary Divorce in the year 1979. This petitioner is said to have married the said Gandhiraj thereafter. After the death of the said Gandhiraj, the petitioner has sent a representation to the authorities concerned on 10.09.2024, seeking disbursement of family pension and other terminal benefits. Since, there is no response from the respondents, the present writ petition has been filed.

3. Considering the above said facts, the 2nd respondent herein is directed to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 10.09.2024 and pass orders on merits and in accordance with law within a period of twelve
(12) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
4. With the above said observations, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
