The Writ Petition is filed for Mandamus seeking a direction to the third respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 28.08.2025 and consequently, give police protection to the petitioner for conducting Kumbabishekam festival of Devi Amman @ Devandi Amman Temple, which is scheduled to be held on 04.09.2025.

2. The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner and others in the Village were devotees of a temple situated within a forest area in Piranmalai and that since the Forest Department prevented the petitioner and others to enter the forest area, they decided to construct a new temple in their own patta land. He would further submit that the Poojari of the temple situated in the forest area insists that he should be appointed as a Poojari of the newly constructed temple in the patta land of the petitioner and he is creating a law and order problem. Hence, the petitioner has sought for police protection.

3. In the light of the above facts, the respondents shall conduct an enquiry and if there is no valid rival claim with regard to the administration of the temple, the respondents shall provide police protection as prayed for by the petitioner.
